Two-factor authentication codes not working
Two-factor codes are time-sensitive and change every 30 seconds. Your phone's clock is out of sync with the server. We'll sync your phone's time, get a fresh code, and check you're using the right account.
Two-factor codes fail when there's a time mismatch between your phone and the server, or when you're using an old code that's already expired. The codes are generated based on the exact current time — if your phone's clock is off by even 30 seconds, the code won't match. Setting your phone to automatic time fixes most authenticator app issues. For SMS codes, only the most recent code works.
- ✓Have your phone nearby and unlocked so you can access your authenticator app or receive text messages
- ✓Have your backup recovery codes ready
- ✓Make sure your phone is connected to the internet (for authenticator app updates) or has cell signal (for SMS)

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Entering an old code instead of waiting for a fresh one — codes only work for about 30 seconds
- Having the phone clock set to manual instead of automatic — this is the most common cause of authenticator app failures
