Mac Mail isn't updating with new emails

Mac Mail sync gets stuck when the connection to the server stalls. Taking your account offline and back online resets the connection in about 30 seconds. If that doesn't work, rebuilding the mailbox clears out any corrupted files that are blocking the sync.
