Mouse clicking twice when you click once

It's the button switch wearing out, but sometimes it's just your computer's settings being too sensitive. We'll adjust your settings, clean the mouse, and test it to find out what's causing it.

Your mouse button switch is getting worn out, or your computer's double-click setting is too fast. We'll start by adjusting how sensitive your computer is to double-clicks, then clean the button, and finally test if it's actually broken. In the majority of cases this fixes it.

  • Have a different mouse available if possible — you'll use it to tell if the problem is your mouse or your computer
  • Have a dry cloth handy in case you need to clean the mouse
