Webcam picture is blurry or out of focus
Your webcam's lens is either dirty, too close to your face, or the focus is locked on something it shouldn't be. Clean the lens with a soft dry cloth, and if it's still blurry, move the camera back 12–18 inches from your face. If your app has a focus lock button, try unlocking it to let the camera refocus.
Webcam focus issues come from dust on the lens, the camera being positioned too close, or the app's focus settings locking on the wrong spot. We'll clean the lens, adjust the distance and angle, and make sure the camera can focus properly.
- ✓Have a soft, dry, lint-free cloth ready — microfiber works best
- ✓A clear space so you can sit 12–18 inches from the camera
- ✓Good natural or artificial lighting near your workspace

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Using a wet cloth to clean the lens. This can leave water spots and make blur worse. Use a dry cloth only.
- Moving too close thinking it will make the image clearer. Most webcams have a minimum focus distance, and going closer makes it blurrier.
Signs you need professional help
- If you've cleaned the lens, adjusted distance and angle, improved lighting, and the image is still blurry in every app, the camera's focus sensor is likely broken. Give us a call and we'll help you troubleshoot or replace the camera.
