Apple ID is greyed out in Settings and you can't tap it

A greyed-out Apple ID means your iPhone is temporarily locked out of account changes, either for security reasons or because of a software glitch. Restart your iPhone first. This clears the lock. If that doesn't work, sign out completely and sign back in.

When Apple ID is greyed out, it's your iPhone's way of protecting your account from accidental changes. This happens during security checks, after iOS updates, or when there's a temporary glitch. Restarting your phone refreshes the connection to Apple's servers. Signing out and back in creates a fresh authentication. One of these fixes it for most users.
